General School Polices -

Non-Discrimination Policy
The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre is committed to equal opportunity in educational programs, admissions and employment. It is the policy of the school to provide equal opportunity for all qualified applicants, students and employees and to prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, sexual preference, disability or marital status.

Privacy Act
The Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 gives to each enrolled student at the school access to his or her educational records, the right to amend those records where they are inaccurate or misleading and the right to control their distribution to others.

Sexual Harassment
The school is committed to maintaining a humane atmosphere in which individuals do not abuse their personal authority or power in the interpersonal relationships. More specifically, the faculty, staff and students of the school will not condone actions and works which a reasonable person would regard as either gender discrimination or sexual harassment. Complaints of sexual harassment should be made to the Director. Every effort will be made to resolve problems on an informal basis. Prompt action will result in appropriate disciplinary action, if necessary.

Alcohol/Drug Use
The unlawful possession, use or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees is prohibited at all times on school premises or as part of its activities. The school is a Drug-Free Workplace as defined by Federal law regarding the use, possession or distribution of alcohol or other drugs will be subject to the full legal penalty, in addition to any appropriate school disciplinary action.

Exemption from NY State Licensing
Carol W. Yates, Director of the Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision, New York State Education Department states that the Neighborhood Playhouse School of The Theatre remains exempt from the licensing requirements of New York State.

Board Conflict of Interest Policy
The Board of Directors of The Neighborhood Playhyuse Inc. have ruled that members of the Board and employees of the school must avoid all conflicts of interest between their duties and responsibilities to the school and their personal interests.

Campus Security
The school annually reports Crimes Statistics (if any) to The Federal Department of Education in Washington. There have not been any qualifying statistics that constitute Crime Statistics in recent years.

A Campus Security Report is available for students perusal in the School's General Office upon request.
