Student Services -
Orientation
New students receive a one day orientation before classes begin. Staff introduce students to the school's personnel and polices, to the neighborhood and to New York City, which is a vital aspect of their educational experience. The Librarian orients students to the use of the library. A Student Handbook is distributed that includes orientation materials and materials describing school policies that students need to be aware of.

Part-Time Jobs
The school posts notices of jobs and informs students of work possibilities like ushering. Students are asked to keep the hours of part-time work within reason. A student's first priority must be to the school.

Activities
Whenever possible, the school provides tickets to plays and other cultural activities. The Librarian will assist students in locating cultural and other events in the area.

Medical
The school can refer students to a local physician, who will refer them to other sources of medical care when necessary. The school does not have a student health insurance plan. Students should make sure that they have adequate coverage, as hospital and medical costs are very expensive in New York City.

Placement
Due to uncertainties of the acting profession, the school cannot undertake to guarantee placement of graduates in jobs in their field of training.

To help students successfully enter the job market after graduation, the school offers, in the second year, seminars featuring guest speakers from the profession, holds mock auditions to give students practice and sometimes acts as a referral source for jobs which are listed with us. In addition, agents, producers and casting directors are invited to observe the final demonstration performances of the second year students and Audition Scene Nights are presented for Industry Representatives.

Student Grievance Procedure
Students who have a complaint or wish to lodge a grievance should: (1) contact the Director and orally outline the grievance; (2) submit a written grievance to the Director within 30 days of the time the alleged offense took place (if step 1 has not been fruitful in resolving the difficulty). The Director will prepare a written response within 15 working days after receipt of the written grievance. The Director's decision is final.
